Is the phrase "Science is always improving itself"?

The notion that the Earth is round rather than flat was an improvement in knowledge. the notion that The Earth is not really round after all was an improvement in knowledge. But that improvement did not mean that the notion of a round Earth was equally wrong to the notion of a flat earth. Such it is with science. It is always improving as our knowledge grows. But that doesn't mean that our scientific knowledge of 1980 was as wrong as our notions about the Cosmos were in the year 880.
